This OS is popularly known for its special features including excellent display, rapid files processing, user friendly GUI options, attractive design, high quality graphics, and so on.
What is partition?
Partition is the process of dividing the computer hard disk or other secondary storage into one or more regions. Users can access the files easily based on partitions. Initially, all the computers have hard disk drives with only a single partition so that users can create multiple partitions as per their requirement can manage data in each region separately. Partitioning is generally the first step of preparing a newly manufactured disk, prior creating any files or folders. Partition table holds the details about the partitions location and sizes.
How to create hard drive partition?
In order to create drive partition/volume, first user must be logged in as an administrator and they should have either unallocated disk space or free space within an extended partition on the computer hard disk.
In case, if there is no unallocated disk space, you can create few by shrinking an existing partition, deleting a partition, or by using a third-party partitioning tools.
- In the very first step, open Computer Management by clicking the “Start” button in your Windows computer, then select “Control Panel” under that click on “System and Security”, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management. Sometimes, user need to enter Administrator password if they encounter for an administrator permission, so type the password or provide confirmation.
- In the left pane, under “Storage” menu, click on “Disk Management” option.
- Next, right click on free space on hard disk, and then select “New Simple Volume”.
- Then, in the “New Simple Volume” wizard, click on the “Next” option to extend the partition.
- Type the size of the volume/drive that user want to create in megabytes (MB) or ensure the maximum default size, and then click “Next”.
- In the next stage, accept the default drive letter or select different drive letter to identify the partition, and then click “Next” option.
- In the Format Partition dialog box, follow below steps:
- In case, if user don’t like to format the volume right now, then he/she need to click on “Do not format this volume”, and click “Next”.
- To format the volume with the default settings, click “Next”.
- Finally, click on “Finish” option to create the partition.
